The Heart Behind the Roast: Meet the Staconas
Stacona Coffee is a family-owned, Inter-Tribal, and Veteran-owned business built on a foundation of service, scholarship, and deep roots in the Pacific Northwest. Our story is one of two paths coming together to honor the land and the people who call it home.
Dr. Eugena Burnside-Stacona, EdD
Enrolled Member of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation
With a Doctorate in Education, Eugena brings a vision of growth, precision, and cultural stewardship to Stacona Coffee. For her, coffee is more than a beverage—it is a vessel for community and a tribute to the resilience of her people. Her Umatilla heritage guides our commitment to the Earth, ensuring that our business practices respect the natural world that provides our beans.
Mark Stacona
Enrolled Member of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs | Army Veteran & Wildland Firefighter
Mark's life has been defined by the front lines. A proud member of the Warm Springs tribe, he served his country in the U.S. Army and protected our landscapes as a Wildland Firefighter. His background brings a level of discipline and "mission-first" focus to our roasting process. Mark knows that in the heat of a fire or the quiet of a deployment, a high-quality cup of coffee is a vital source of comfort and strength.
Our Mission: Stewardship in Every Sip
We've spent our lives in service—to our tribes, our country, and our environment. Stacona Coffee is the culmination of those journeys. We believe in Freshness Without Compromise, which is why we only roast your coffee once your order is placed.
By blending the academic rigor of an EdD with the grit of a firefighter and the discipline of a veteran, we provide a product that is as intentional as it is delicious.
Why Stacona?
Native-Owned & Operated: Proudly representing the Umatilla and Warm Springs traditions of hospitality and respect for the land.
Veteran-Led Precision: We apply the same dedication to our roasting profiles as we did to our service in uniform.
Roast-to-Order Freshness: We don't believe in stale coffee. We ship directly from our roaster to your door within 24 hours.
When you choose Stacona Coffee, you are supporting an Indigenous-owned small business that honors the past while fueling the future.
From our family to yours—enjoy the ritual.
